Horizon Staffing Resources is hiring Substitute Teachers for schools in Chester, PA for the 2026–2027 school year! This is a great opportunity for educators, recent graduates, and professionals looking to gain classroom experience while making a positive impact on students.

As a Substitute Teacher, you will provide classroom coverage when the regular teacher is unavailable, ensuring students continue to receive a safe, structured, and engaging learning experience.

Responsibilities

• Follow lesson plans and classroom instructions provided by the regular teacher.
• Maintain a positive, safe, and supportive classroom environment.
• Supervise and engage students during classroom activities, transitions, lunch, recess, and other school settings.
• Adapt teaching strategies to meet the needs of individual students.
• Manage classroom behavior while encouraging participation and student success.
• Take attendance and provide updates or notes regarding student progress and classroom activities.
• For long-term assignments, assist with lesson planning and classroom instruction.

Qualifications

• Valid Pennsylvania Type 06 (Day-to-Day Emergency Permit) or Type 04 (Long-Term Emergency Permit) required.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to lead and support students of various ages.
• Strong classroom management and problem-solving skills.
• Flexibility and ability to adapt to different classroom environments.
• General knowledge of multiple academic subjects.
• Must complete fingerprinting through the Pennsylvania Department of Education .
