Job Description:

Looking for a Cable Technician with 5+ years experience installing, terminating, patching & splicing Fiber optic cables and Copper (CAT5/6) Ethernet cables. Must be able to work in an active working environment with little or no disruption to customers. Cable Technician will be working in a Classified secured environment with the need to be able to obtain up to Top Secret/SCI clearance.

HOW A CABLE TECHNICIAN WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:
  • Troubleshooting issues with Link Runner AT2000 cable testers.
  • Installing cabling infrastructure under floors or in ceilings.
  • Ensure cables are properly labeled and identified.
  • Complete work orders using Remedy online system.
  • Patch network cables in Telecommunications Rooms on multiple levels of classifications and networks.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

Requirements and skills:
  • Proven work experience as a Cable Technician or similar role.
  • 5+ years experience installing, terminating, patching & splicing Fiber optic cables and Copper (CAT5/6) Ethernet cables.
  • Must know how to terminate fiber optic cables of various types (Single-mode vs. Multi-mode OM3) and know fiber optic color code. Knowledge of fiber optic connectors LC, SC, MTRJ, ST, etc.
  • Must be able to use a RJ45 crimper & punch-down tool for terminating copper as well as T568B color code.
  • Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds.
  • Must be able to work under floors and on ladders on a daily basis.
  • BICSI certifications are preferred.
  • Must be willing to travel CONUS & OCCONUS up to 10% each year.
  • Must have a valid Passport with expiration greater than 6 months.
  • Security Clearance: Must have a current/active Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain TS/SCI status.

The likely hourly rate for this position is between $71,400.00 - $96,600.00. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
