Job Description

AT Legal PC is a newly established Missoula-based law office offering comprehensive legal support across Montana. We specialize in employment and personal injury matters. Our founding attorney, Adrienne Tranel, has over 20 years of experience and leads the new firm with clarity, conviction, and genuine care.

Job Overview

Our law firm is seeking a motivated and client-focused Associate Attorney to join our team on a contract basis, handling cases in the practice areas of employment and personal injury. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who wants meaningful casework, flexible full-time scheduling, and the freedom of independent practice — without the burden of building a client base from scratch.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and litigate cases from intake through resolution
  • Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, and correspondence
  • Conduct legal research and provide case strategy recommendations
  • Communicate regularly with clients, keeping them informed of case status
  • Attend hearings, depositions, and mediations as needed (remote when available)
  • Maintain accurate and timely case notes and documentation
  • Meet court deadlines and comply with all applicable rules of professional conduct
  • Engage in negotiations with opposing counsel or parties to achieve favorable outcomes for clients
  • Coordinate with firm leadership on case strategy, settlement negotiations, and client updates

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
  • Active license to practice law in the State of Montana in good standing
  • 2–5 years of experience preferred
  • Familiarity with FLSA, Title VII, the Montana Human Rights Act, and related employment statutes is a plus
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage a caseload independently and meet deadlines without close supervision
  • Comfortable working in a technology-driven environment

Disclosures

  • This is not an employee position; you will be responsible for your own taxes, benefits, and health insurance
  • You will be required to sign an Independent Contractor Agreement prior to beginning work
  • All work must comply with the Montana Rules of Professional Conduct and applicable bar requirements

Compensation

Compensation for this role is non-traditional and designed to reward results. Details will be tailored to the right candidate and outlined in the Independent Contractor Agreement.

To Apply

Send email with cover letter, resume, and legal writing sample to ***email_hidden***. Preference will be given to those that apply by 5/8/2026.
