Pre-Professional Librarian

Reports to: Library Director

The Winsor School is an independent day school for academically promising and motivated girls in grades five through twelve. The School seeks a part-time pre-professional librarian, i.e., someone who plans to earn their Master’s in Library Science. The successful candidate will demonstrate patience, flexibility, and dependability, as well as have strong multi-tasking and self-starter skills. The candidate should be comfortable working in a bustling library environment. Experience working with 5th-12th graders, experience in libraries, or interest in librarianship as a career is highly desirable.

This is a 10-month position for 19 hours per week. It will begin in late August 2026.

This position’s duties include:

• operating the circulation desk,

• supervising students in the library and enforcing library policies, as well as providing library coverage when the librarians are not on site,

• creating visually appealing library bulletin boards and book displays,

• managing the library’s social media,

• processing new books and repairing book damages,

• collection maintenance, including weeding out-of-date library materials, inventory, and shelving books,

• performing other library-related duties as assigned by the director.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree,

• demonstrated commitment to community and inclusion work,

• demonstrated interest in pursuing a Master’s in Library Science,

• computer skills, including proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office.

• excellent oral and written communication skills,

• the ability to work collaboratively,

• a good sense of humor.

Physical Requirements:

• Requires frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, and reaching, as well as carrying and occasionally lifting up to 30 lbs.
  

Salary range: $22-$27 per hour
