Job Description

The University of Alaska Southeast (UAS) is currently seeking motivated applicants for Library Assistant positions. This is a great opportunity to work on campus during the summer in Juneau, with schedules of up to 20 hours per week.

Library experience preferred (though not required) i.e. volunteering or interning in school or public library. Full on-the-job training will be provided.

Position Overview
This position offers valuable work experience in a supportive academic environment, skill development in customer service and information systems, and the opportunity to be part of a collaborative campus community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service to students, faculty, and community members
  • Staff the front circulation desk and serve as the primary point of contact for library users
  • Assist with a variety of projects under the direction of library staff
  • Perform shelving and retrieval of library materials
  • Learn and apply both Library of Congress and Dewey Decimal classification systems
  • Use library circulation software (training provided)

Position Details:

This position is located on the University of Alaska campus in Juneau. This is a part-time temporary position, starting with an hourly rate of $13.13.  The minimum age requirement for this position is 16 years old.
