Job Description

The Forklift Driver supports a busy harvest season by safely operating forklifts to load, unload, and move totes used for storing maraschino cherries in a fast-paced production environment. This is a contract role of approximately three months, with the possibility of longer-term opportunities based on performance. You will play a key role in keeping production flowing by ensuring materials are moved efficiently, accurately, and in line with safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a forklift safely to load, unload, and move totes containing maraschino cherries throughout the production facility.
  • Ensure production areas have a steady and timely supply of totes to support continuous operations.
  • Transport materials between storage, production, and loading areas in an efficient and organized manner.
  • Use pallet jacks and RF scanners, when required, to assist with material handling and inventory tasks.
  • Perform general labor tasks such as loading and unloading trucks as needed.
  • Follow all safety procedures and site guidelines while working in and around production equipment and outdoor elements.
  • Work at a consistent, steady pace to meet production demands and daily targets.
  • Follow instructions accurately from supervisors and coordinate effectively with team members.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including safe staging of totes and materials.

Essential Skills

  • At least 1 year of recent forklift driving experience.
  • Proven ability to operate a forklift safely in a production, warehouse, or similar environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly throughout the shift.
  • Ability to work efficiently at a steady pace to meet production goals.
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and reliability.
  • Ability to work well with others and communicate effectively in a team setting.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
  • Comfort working in an environment exposed to outdoor elements such as rain and heat.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with material handling and inventory support in a production or warehouse environment.
  • Experience in production operations, including moving and staging materials.
  • Proficiency in using pallet jacks for moving pallets and totes.
  • Experience using RF scanners for tracking inventory and materials.
  • General labor experience, including loading and unloading trucks.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining safety and quality standards.

Work Environment

The role is based at a large maraschino cherry production site operating during a busy harvest season. You will be consistently exposed to outdoor elements such as rain, heat, and varying temperatures when moving materials between indoor and outdoor areas. Safety standards and procedures are strictly enforced, and appropriate protective gear and safe work practices are expected at all times. This is a contract position located in Dayton, Oregon.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.10 - $19.12/hr.
